The cost of obtaining one's lawfull entitlements

I was reading yesterday's article about an ACC claimant asking for help with vet bills and her very true & profound comment.

"I just spent $1000 which I haven't got ... it's a lot of money for someone who lives on ACC,"

A sad fact fact but true in that every claimant on reduced income must fund their own legal challenges. Some may have the advantage in that they qualify for legal aid.

I look at tomcats case over the last 20 years and wonder just how much it has cost him in time and money to obtain his lawfull entitlements.

In my own case its been seven years of my life & a legal bill of $18k so far..

Just to prove ACC made a mistake in 1990 in calculating my ERC and I'm still attempting to get ACC to sort it out properly.

I will be obtaining the sum of ACC's legal costs to date on this action soon. Yes they will be considerable because my Lawyer has been getting ACC to agree to pay costs up front for her action's in sorting some of their (ACC's complete bolloxes) during this case.

There are of course several more thousands of dollars in medical reports for other actions that need to be considered at some future date.

I was fortunate in having a win because there is no way I could have afforded legal representation on 80% of my wages from when I was injured.
